LinksLinksHere are some links that we've found useful and/or interesting, in no particular order.. AirheadsI've decided to spend more time flying, and less in the workshop, and I'm delighted to be flying with the Airheads - Doug Irvine, Paul Collins, Keith and Vee Griffiths and Valerie. More information on the Airheads website www.airheads.org.uk STACK UK is the offical kite competition site; the new site has loads of useful (and growing) content.
Ray Bethell has one of the best flyer sites around, brimmed full of content, detailing Ray's adventures in the kiting world. Ray is the definitive number one geezer. Highly recommended. kites.org hosts a number of excellent sites dedicated to promoting the sport of kite flying. I've found in particular the Kite Fantastic site is a great source of information, loads of links and useful stuff like where to fly in the UK.
The Kite Flier's Site contains kite reviews, festival listings, STACK and links to the kiting world. Roy Reed has some really nice animations of the STACK competition figures, which are much easier to understand than the static diagrams. Even if you don't compete, these are excellent patterns for developing fine kite control. Flying line is very much a matter of personal choice, but I've switched recently to Climax Protec line, both for solo and team flying. I've been using it for a couple of months and so far the performance is outstanding. Information and retailers available from the importers, Emkay. I'm terrible for losing ground stakes, so it's nice to see a sensible solution. Details and stockists from Graham Binney. I'm hopless at making postings - but some of our customer's comments can be seen on the Gone With the Wind forum. |
